February 27, 2013 – Beijing, China The Educational Testing Service (ETS) China Administration Center released its 2012 ranking of higher education institutions exam performance for the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Developed in 1979, TOEIC is the evaluation standard of workplace English proficiency used by government agencies and multinational corporations to rank English ability of people in non-English speaking countries. The 2012 College Student Workplace English Proficiency Rankingshows the average TOEIC score for graduates from the top 50 Chinese universities. Two of the top five colleges in this ranking use DynEd as their English language learning curriculum.
Beijing’s UIBE ranked first among schools sampled with an average student TOEIC score of 870.12 and Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade ranked fourth with an average score of 846.27. The results for these long-term DynEd clients are well above the average TOEIC score for graduates from the top-50 universities of 811.69 and exceed the requirements set by most well known employers.
UIBE in particular was among the earliest Chinese universities to introduce and extensively apply DynEd courses to its undergraduate English education curriculum (English major excluded) with over a decade’s experience using DynEd solutions. The UIBE results are based on the test results of more than 500 students. UIBE began to reform its English education in 2002, and the introduction of DynEd English teaching system was an essential part of the school’s initiatives to break through traditional educational methods. So far more than 20,000 UIBE students of the past decade’s classes have benefited from the DynEd courses.
TOEIC was introduced to China in 2002. In 2009, ETS partnered with ATA, to establish TOEIC China Administration Center.
