Turkey Renews & Expands DynEd Contract

Turkey Ministry of National Education expands DynEd® adoption nationally

13 million public school students in grades 4 – 12 to use DynEd as their core English language learning curriculum.

Burlingame, CA—February 1, 2013—FuturePrints A.S. (exclusive distributor for DynEd in Turkey) announced that the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MONE) has renewed its contract to use DynEd as the core English curriculum in all Turkish public schools in grades 4 – 12. By the time the contract is fully implemented in 2015, over 13 million public school students across Turkey will be studying English with DynEd.

Announcing the renewed and expanded DynEd contract, Omer Dincer, the outgoing Minister of Education, pointed to the continued success of the DynEd English system over the past six years. Starting in 2006, MONE and DynEd implemented a carefully-crafted national strategy to train grade 4 – 8 teachers in 11,250 schools. After the initial training, MONE identified 900 regional teacher-trainers and provided them additional quarterly training to improve local delivery and support. By 2012, DynEd’s blended-learning model was being used as core grade 4 – 8 English curriculum in 34,500 public schools, reaching nine million students.

In his remarks, Minister Dincer mentioned the successful implementations of DynEd in the larger districts of Antalya, Burdur, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Mersin, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Tunceli and Yalova. Specifically, he noted the recent success of the Muhitten Develi Elementary School, from the Mezitlie Elementary School District, in a European Commission’s European Language Label Award contest. The Muhitten faculty credited the foundation provided by DynEd as a key factor in helping their students win top honors in the English storytelling contest that included students from EU schools, including the Czech Republic, Romania and Poland.
